The Beginning to an End
The final heartbreak;
The last drive home;
The means to an end
That I should have known.
Watch the tears flow
Down the side of my face;
They represent confusion
Of relief and sorrow.
Never again
Shall I open my heart,
It’s bruised and damaged;
But not torn apart.
Savour the memories,
Yet they are filled with pain;
I never want to see you
Or speak to you again.
The final kiss
Lingers in my mind;
Those thoughts of bliss
Seem like forever ago in time.
I was never the one
Who filled the notes to your song;
And the hardest part;
Was knowing all along.
Never again
Shall I open my heart,
It’s bruised and damaged;
But not torn apart.
Savour the memories,
Yet they are filled with pain;
I never want to see you
Or speak to you again.
